The Eco-Pioneer Youth Competition 2025 ended on a high note with an unforgettable award ceremony that brought together passionate youth, educators, and community leaders. The event was more than a celebration — it was a showcase of bold ideas, creative energy, and the unstoppable spirit of young changemakers committed to building a sustainable future.

Why This Competition Matters

This year’s competition was designed to:

• Raise Awareness: Educating the public about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through creative outreach.
• Encourage Local Action: Giving youth a platform to share projects, ideas, and innovative approaches to community engagement.
• Promote Collaboration: Strengthening ties between universities, schools, and stakeholders to drive real impact in sustainable development.

Focus on the SDGs

Participants tackled pressing issues aligned with:

• SDG 4: Quality Education
• SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
• SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
• SDG 15: Life on Land

Participation Snapshot

• Eligibility: Youth aged 15–30 from Kuching, Bau, Lundu, Samarahan, Asajaya, Serian, Simunjan, and Tebedu.
• Poster Category: 31 submissions (23 individual, 8 group) across 8 award categories.
• Video Category: 5 group submissions across 5 award categories.
• Schools & Institutions Represented: SMK Pending, Borneo International School, SMK Kuching High, UCSI University Sarawak Campus, Yayasan Sarawak International Secondary School, SMK Green Road, SMK Sungai Tapang, SMK Bandar Semariang, and Sunway College Kuching.

What We Achieved Together

The competition didn’t just reward creativity — it transformed understanding:

• Before the event: Only 19.4% of participants were very familiar with the SDGs.
• After the event: 27.8% felt confident explaining the SDGs, 44.4% had a solid understanding, and 27.8% gained a basic grasp.
• Empowerment boost: 37.1% felt much more equipped to talk about sustainable development, while 31.4% felt slightly more equipped.

This growth shows how the competition sparked real learning and confidence among youth leaders.
